AQA Animals - keeping pets

Super ppt. It really made me smile. It also made me want to tell you about my pets and I bet it has the same effect on your pupils. This relationship between humans and animals is an important aspect of RE which is rarely 'on the syllabus' but I guess it should be. </p> My dog was run over years ago and the vet wanted to put it down although it only had a badly broken leg. 'There's almost no hope of saving the leg and you wouldn't want to go around with a dog with only three legs' was his first comment. When I said that if I was in his situation, I'd rather be alive with three legs than dead, but could he do everything possible to try to save the leg, he answered, 'you don't have the kind of money it would take to try to save his leg.' Fortunately I was able to find another vet and take my dog there. His leg was saved - and while it took me two years to pay off the vets bill I never regretted that for a moment. I think that pets are very important in our lives and this is an excellent ppt to explore what this might mean. </p> My 92 year old mother lives in the countryside but rarely goes out for a proper walk on her own. My current cat is staying with her and they go for a walk together. Each evening my mum tells me with delight about their walk (about half a mile there and back) down the lane to a copse and back. The quality that my crazy kitten-cat (about 10 months old as of now) has added to Mum's life is beyond words. And for me, curling up with her for ten or fifteen minutes, when she is in the mood to do that, is a real delight. I would never stop and relax like that without her.
