AQA Energy Stores and Pathways Equations and Units Placemat

The AQA Energy topic can be confusing for students as there are lots of equations. Some students find it challenging to see how the equations are related, including their links to the core of the unit: stores and pathways. I’ve seen students feel demoralized - ‘oh not another one!’. This resource aims to tackle that.

This resource aims to increase the clarity of this topic for students, and it links to equations in later topics too, thus increasing students’ synoptic understanding. It can be used at the start of the topic to show the road map for the learning ahead, or at the end as a review, or as a poster for the classroom, or placemats that students can use during the lessons. Or any other way you see fit!

There are three pages in this resource and a PDF and PowerPoint version have been included. The PowerPoint it easy to edit to remove equations. You can delete ones you don’t want to introduce to your students yet, then introduce them back later when you are ready to. The third slide is useful as a reference sheet throughout Physics.

It can be used to model how to create effective revision tools using colour to clarify ideas.
