A two week (7 lesson) scheme of work introducing students to Paper 1, (Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing) of the new AQA English Language GCSE. The aim is to introduce students to the format of the exam and teach them the skills needed to analyse unseen prose extracts.

The scheme of work focuses on an extract from the opening the short story 'Propping Up The Line' by Ian Beck - I have not been able to upload this due to copyright restrictions but it is available online.

Originally for KS3 (Yr9) working towards their end of term assessment but can be used with mid/low ability KS4 or very easily adapted for more able. All slides are editable and can be easily changed if you want to use a different text.

Each question is separated into a lesson with starter activities, opportunities for self and peer assessment, homework and time allocated for redrafting based on analysis of the mark scheme too.
