GCSE English Language – Language Devices Revision
Song: “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman (1988)
This is a really fun, cool and interactive activity that I am excited to share with you! It helps students rapidly identify and analyse language devices within a literary text – using music! By listening to a song a few times and reading its lyrics, students will explore how specific language choices create meaning and evoke emotion.
Great inclusive group activity and effective for all learners and SEN. Guaranteed way to memorise language terminology in a fun way. Young people love music – let’s use it to teach!
The activity also supports the use of correct subject terminology, helping students practise the analytical language required for GCSE English Language
**By the end of the task, students will be able to accurately identify language devices and explain their effects on the listener.
