A complete revision workbook covering Forces for AQA GCSE Physics.
I made this resource to keep the whole topic together in one place, with revision notes, calculations, required practical work and exam practice built into the same workbook. Forces is one of the bigger Physics topics and includes a lot of equations, graphs and explanation questions, so I’ve broken it down into clear sections with plenty of worked examples and practice throughout.
The workbook covers:
- Scalar and vector quantities
- Contact and non-contact forces
- Weight, mass and gravity
- Resultant forces
- Work done
- Elasticity and springs
- Hooke’s law
- Elastic potential energy
- Required Practical 6 – force and extension
- Moments, levers and gears
- Pressure in fluids
- Atmospheric pressure
- Distance and displacement
- Speed and velocity
- Distance-time graphs
- Velocity-time graphs
- Acceleration
- Newton’s First, Second and Third Laws
- Required Practical 7 – force, mass and acceleration
- Terminal velocity
- Stopping distance
- Thinking and braking distance
- Momentum
- Momentum in collisions
- Mixed retrieval practice
- Exam-style questions and full answers
Throughout the workbook, I’ve included a mixture of clear revision notes, diagrams, worked examples, quick-check questions, calculation practice, common mistakes, exam tips and application questions.
There is plenty of practice with the areas students often find more difficult, particularly motion graphs, rearranging equations, resultant forces, Newton’s laws, stopping distance and momentum calculations.
The required practicals are also covered in detail, including methods, variables, graph skills, calculations and evaluation questions.
Physics-only and Higher Tier content is clearly labelled where needed, so students can easily see which sections are relevant to them.
Towards the end of the workbook there is mixed retrieval practice covering the whole topic, followed by original exam-style questions with full answers and model responses. A final checklist is also included to help students identify anything they still need to revise.
The workbook can be worked through from start to finish or used to focus on individual sections, making it suitable for independent revision, homework, tutoring, intervention sessions or classroom revision.
I’ve tried to keep the explanations straightforward and easy to follow while still including the level of detail and maths practice students need to apply the topic confidently in GCSE exam questions.
28 pages with answers included throughout.
