Based on the 2018 AQA English Language Paper 1. These PDF slides present three pairs of responses side by side and ask students to concentrate on what is missing from B that we find in A. Model identifying the differences. Link response to mark scheme and AOs if appropriate.
Notes for explaining the difference between level 4 and 3
Level 4 - Links ideas together to create a greater sense of overall understanding of effects - rather than ‘golden’ just being linked to the idea of positivity, the student moves further into exploring the connotations of the adjective - recognising the association with nostalgia and romanticising
Level 4 - A more concise use of language
Level 4 - Possesses a greater sense of fluidity of ideas
