Before introducing students to the different health issues advised by the specification, I have developed an independent student session (designed for two lessons) where groups of students are given a scenario card of a problem faced by the heart. Following the success criteria provided students produce a presentation around their problem to deliver to the rest of the class. There is also an assessment question and homework (with answers provided) to consolidate the activity with students.
