Arctic-Themed Music Unit

One Unit of Six Music Lessons

Reception and Key Stage 1

You do not need a musical background to deliver this unit.

Support your pupils with learning about the Arctic in a fun, engaging and practical way.

Simple to put together and extremely effective, children learn Arctic facts by rote, using the musical form, call and response.

There are at least six music lessons in this unit but depending on the age and ability of your pupils, you may choose to deliver them in smaller chunks.

In this Arctic-themed unit, pupils will;

• Recognise and use music-specific vocabulary
• Repeat simple phrases in time to a steady pulse
• Identify a range of animals that live in the Arctic
• Perform call and response chants
• Compose using call and response form

Resources required;
• A metronome and access to an online metronome
• A recording device (but not essential)

This unit includes;
