More about the resource
This practical unit helps pupils explore what their bodies can do through touch, movement, sound, smell and visual experiences. Activities include hand and foot exploration, reaching and pulling, mark-making, movement pathways, face building, sensory investigation, action sequencing and matching body parts to familiar actions.
The planning has been designed to be flexible for pupils working at different developmental levels. Each week includes a clear learning intention, accessible assessment opportunities, activity guidance, required resources and specialist adaptations. Communication grids provide relevant vocabulary for each activity and include core words such as want, help, more, finished, like, your turn and my turn.
The accompanying worksheets remain deliberately low demand. Pupils can complete them through pointing, eye gaze, partner-assisted scanning, AAC, matching or supported cut-and-stick work, rather than relying on handwriting.
An engaging and highly adaptable body-themed science resource for special schools, SEND classrooms, PMLD groups, sensory learners and pupils working below National Curriculum expectations.
Please note that physical resources and any recommended books or songs are not included.
