This game can be played in a group or used in one to one teaching.
The pack contains a treble clef card, bar lines, three time signature options and colour co-ordinated note name cards.
Give each child a different pitched boom whaker.
Lay out your treble clef and choose which time signature you want to use.
Choose how you plan to compose your piece. Either allow a student to choose the note cards and the order that they wish to lay them, or shuffle the cards and randomly lay them out. Make sure to put your bar lines in after the correct number of note cards.
The group can then play their composition using their boom whakers.
This exercise encourages and empowers students in composition and grows students understanding of group and collective music making only playing when it is your turn to play.
