Scale Builder Major Scales Workbook teaching Tool PDF, learn the structure of major scales. Grade 1

This 47 page instant download workbook has been designed to help students understand the sequencing of intervals in major scales. The booklet is available as a pdf so that it can be screen shared with students during virtual teaching or printed out and used by the student at home. The booklet has been designed so that you can introduce the information one bit at a time and use it either as one lesson or broken down into different parts depending on the time available to you and what best suits your student. It also contains two games to facilitate learning. It has been designed to help students understand both Semi Tones and Tones and the sequence that they appear in, in the Major Scale. I designed this workbook inspired by a student of my cousin who was struggling to memorise her scales. We both concluded the student would find it easier if she understood what they were. Hopefully by the end of studying this booklet and playing the games included a student will have an understand of how a major scale comes together and will be able to write one out for themselves. My cousin gave the best feedback I could hope for, she said this workbook enabled her to work through the concepts in a organised way and, and this is the good bit, it helped her understand what it is the student does and doesn’t know at this stage. That is so good as teachers, if we can work out what it is our students don’t know we are so much better equipped to help them. I hope this workbook will help your students to under and scales better, feel more confident with them and therefore be able to play them with more confidence, less tension and maybe even enjoy them a bit more! Examples of the pages can be seen in the photograph, an explanation for teachers is included. Why not add this to your repertoire of teaching tools. Wishing you happy teaching. Also check out our game Major Second Minor Second Shark Chase, a great follow up game to this workbook, also available from FunMusic Matters.
