Boreal Physics Team Challenge Grades 7-8

Turn physics revision into an Arctic team investigation for Grades 7-8. Students solve six new missions using speed, forces, energy, efficiency and waves.

The Blackout at Boreal Research Station is a standalone collaborative physics investigation for Grades 7-8 / Years 8-9 / ages 12-14.

Team Polar and Team Solar complete the same six missions under identical conditions. The first team to defend a correct solution earns a speed token, but speed alone cannot restore the station. Each team receives different positions of a shared Main Control code, so both code fragments must be combined during the final challenge.

Boreal contains its own numerical data, engineering reports, constraints, verification sequence and final energy audit. It can be used independently, after the Aurora investigation as a fresh assessment, with another class or as a parallel challenge on a different day.

Students select relevant evidence, convert units, challenge plausible errors, complete connected calculations and defend an engineering decision against multiple constraints.
