British Values + Politics 2026
NEW 15 HOURS- A selection of brand new 2026/27 EC Publishing PSHE lessons created for British Values / Citizenship / Tutor Time lessons or could be used for a Drop Down Day for Citizenship. The lessons cover pertinent political issues in the UK, from immigration and identity to our role in war and peace on the global scale - as well as an introduction to five of the UK's main political parties. Note - we are a non-partisan company so every party's lesson will show the established policies and history of parties (factually) rather than even remotely promoting any of them. These would be especially useful if you were going to run a mock general election. There are 15 hours of total content as many of the lessons are doubles, each coming with detailed easy to follow PowerPoint, worksheets, clips, activities and info packs. Made by a wonderful team of consultants and teachers who are, above all, humans, not AI (we write and check every word and fact and are happy to stake our company reputation on what we produce). This is a saver pack - bought separately the lessons would total £34. CONTENTS: 1) British Values - Importance of British Values - 2 HOURS Brand new PSHE / Citizenship lesson best suited to KS4 / KS5 all about why we need shared British Values. Students will investigate the reasons for both sides protesting (pro and anti asylum seekers in hotels), the difference between hate speech and free speech and the difference between patriotism and nationalism. There is enough content to last up to 2 hours. 3) British Values - Tolerance and Mutual Respect - Celebrating diversity and equality, this British Values lesson is all about the core value of mutual tolerance and respect. Students will explore Britain’s journey in establishing these values, place them in context with our other fundamental values, complete creative, literacy, clip-based and analytical tasks, as well as exploring their own opinions on why we still need these core values so much today. Includes detailed lesson plan. 4) Immigration in Britain 2026- A new Citizenship / PSHE lesson focusing on the issues surround the UK’s immigration debate. Students will assess the pros and cons of high immigration levels, how this can be beneficial to Britain in many ways, but also detrimental in others. They will look at facts, statistics and quotes from politicians and compare these to official government figures. There is also a large focus on how migrants contribute to the economy through taking on jobs the British public (and many young people) might not consider doing and whether young people should be encouraged into these roles. 5) Religious Hate Crime - Extremism- A new PSHE / Citizenship lesson focusing on why there has been an increase in reported religious hate crimes in the UK over the last two years. The lesson delves into the opinions of the British public on the subject, from those who have witnessed or experienced religious hate crime, to those working to fight against it. Students will examine the work of interfaith projects to help promote cohesion and understanding before working on a creative ‘More in Common’ project. There is enough content to last up to 2 hours and an information pack is included. 6) War, Conflict and Peace - A new, PSHE / Citizenship lesson focusing on why there is so much conflict in the world in 2026.
