THE NATURE vs NURTURE DEBATE and GENETIC FACTORS THAT AFFECT DEVELOPMENT

Presentation and several worksheet / past exam questions for Learning Aim B1 and B2 - Human Lifespan Development.

These resources focus on:

B1) THE NATURE vs NURTURE DEBATE RELATED TO FACTORS (inc Gesell’s Maturation Theory, Bandura’s Social Learning Theory & the Bobo Doll Experiment and the Stress-Diathesis Model)

The resources for B1 include a presentation and instructions for students to work in groups on the various facets of nature/nurture that affect human growth; ie: to research and create a presentation on a given sub-topic. This is complimented by topic-related past paper questions extracted from past examinations, signposting for the Revision Guide and extended structured questioning that can be used for class discussion that is supportive of mixed ability learning, and as an informal assessment tool.

B2) GENETIC FACTORS THAT AFFECT DEVELOPMENT (inc all the inherited disorders listed in the specification and more, and biological factors that impact development)

The resources for B2 include a presentation and instructions for students to work individually on one sub-topic that contributes to a larger presentation on the genetic and biological factors that affect human growth. The presentation includes illustrated, topic-specific information. This is complimented by topic-related past paper questions extracted from past examinations, signposting for the Revision Guide and extended structured questioning that can be used for class discussion that is supportive of mixed ability learning, and as an informal assessment tool. There is a colour-coded, multi-page homework worksheet that is designed to summarise the information that students have learned in B1 and B2.

The attached is sufficient for several lessons.

The presentations signpost pages from the textbook and revision guide if you are using these.
