This resource is about 3 hours worth of content. It includes an introduction to Unit 20: Biomedical Science on the NQF BTEC Level 3 Applied Science. I haven’t been able to find many lessons on the content needed for Learning aim B of the unit (histology and cytology) so I decided to upload mine. Content includes:

  • introduction to unit
  • structure and function of epithelial tissues
  • recognising cancerous cells and tissues
  • different types of screening (biopsy, aspirates)
  • the process of microtomy
  • ensuring quality standards

The lesson contains mostly student-led activities, however the content is provided on slides if you do not have access to the Edexcel Salters Nuffield A Biology book, or the Biological Review article on ‘Preparing Microscope Slides’. I have added some ideas in the notes of certain slides.
