Bug “Odd One Out” Peg & Circle Activity

This fun and engaging bug-themed observation activity encourages children to carefully look, compare and identify differences.

Each card shows four bugs, where three are the same and one is slightly different. Children must look closely to spot the difference and either circle the correct bug or use a peg to show their answer.

Some cards are more challenging than others, allowing children to build confidence before moving on to trickier comparisons.

Two Ways to Use

  1. Circle the Correct Bug
Perfect for table work – children use a whiteboard pen or pencil to circle the bug that is different.

  2. Peg the Correct Bug
Ideal for tuff trays or continuous provision – children place a peg on the odd one out, developing fine motor skills.
