Catacombs Escape Room – KS3 French

An atmospheric interactive escape room to revise the perfect tense in the depths of the Paris catacombs. Designed for KS3 students, this immersive 10–15-minute challenge is ideal as a plenary or quick revision activity.

Storyline
Students find themselves trapped in the catacombs on a school trip and must prove their mastery of the perfect tense to escape. Each of the four rooms focuses on a different skill:

• identifying auxiliaries,
• using past participles,
• reordering full French sentences,
• and answering short comprehension questions.

Format
You can access the game from the second slide of the PowerPoint (a QR code is also provided). This activity can easily be played as a class, but students could do it individually or in pairs — on their phones or on computers for a full immersion.

Based on the vocabulary of Studio 2, this escape room offers a short but meaningful challenge that consolidates the perfect tense in a creative and memorable way.
