Chapter 10 : Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

A worksheet based topic for LAPs and MAPs (3,4,5) to work individually on understanding the plot and the Gothic use of language in the final chapter of the book. The resource is divided into two sections , approximately as the two halves of the chapter, and the first section has 20 questions and the second has 26. The text has been re-written so that the more convoluted passages have been summarised in fairly straight forward language but parts of Stevenson’s original have been included for language analysis questions. The two text types are differentiated by the use of different fonts and bold,italics for the original text. The questions are also identified by (PEE) if the answer requires textual evidence or in other cases they are comprehension questions to understand the plot.
Students were able to read through the text and work at their own pace with teacher support as needed.
