This is a non-fiction reading lesson and was made to be used alongside reading Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. It uses a non-fiction article to explore some of the experiences that Dickens himself had with crime in this life. Aimed at KS3 but suitable for developing the knowledge of Dickens' ideas and intentions for anyone studying the text. It aims to develop close reading skills and incorporates reading strategies and questioning styles based on Doug Lemov's 'Reading Reconsidered.'
