
How well can your pupils budget for a school Christmas lunch?
Here’s the set up and what to tell pupils . . .
- The Head/Principal has asked you to buy the ingredients so the School Chef can cook a special Christmas lunch for your class
- You have a budget of £60 - you must stay under this!
- Prioritise the most important items first, and keep track of your budget
- Once you’ve decided what’s ‘in’ and what’s ‘out’, total up the spend
Potential extensions:
- What if the budget drops to £45?
- Explain why one ‘want’ was prioritised over another
- What would you keep if you were cooking for guests with different needs (dietary, cultural, financial)?
And, the biggest question of all: sprouts or no sprouts? ;-)
