This resource is designed for students to "see" for themselves the circle theorems needed for GCSE. Students follow instructions to draw the relevant cords, radii etc... and then measure the required angles. Sharp pencils and accurate drawing are required!
I use this as an introductory lesson (or sometimes 2) to circle theorems. I give students time to complete the first 3 and then lead a class discussion. Part A should get 2 theorems: Equal angles in a segment and opposite angles in a cyclic quadrilateral (depending on whether they mark point B in the same or opposite segment)
The whole document can be made into a booklet, or pages used individually if using over a number of lessons. The final pages enable good quality note making for future reference.
A few reasons why this resource works so well....
Students get hands on seeing the theorems work. This helps with later memory.
Students have to remember and use the key vocabulary (chord, tangent etc...)
Students practice accurate constructions and measuring of angles
