
With the COP30 Brazil summit coming up next month, here’s a topical cross-curricular investigation for upper-KS2 pupils that challenges them to apply their knowledge of maths, science and money skills to plan an eco makeover for their classroom!
- First, explain the scenario: “we’ve been given a budget of £100 (by the Head/Principal) to make some energy-saving upgrades to the classroom”
- Tell pupils they need to work out how best spend that money
- Challenge pupils to find . . .
a) the combination that saves the most energy/CO2 emissions over 1 year
b) the combination that has the fastest payback time
