Free interactive climate science investigation exploring CO₂, greenhouse warming, ice-albedo feedback and Earth-system change with a browser model.

Students use the free Climate Machine interactive to predict, test, observe and explain how increasing atmospheric CO₂ affects global temperature, ice cover and planetary albedo.

The activity introduces the greenhouse effect, Earth’s energy balance and the positive ice-albedo feedback, while encouraging students to distinguish an initial climate change from the responses that can amplify it.

Approximate lesson time: 30–40 minutes
Suitable for: secondary / middle-school Earth science, climate science and geography.
