Practise column addition and subtraction with three-digit numbers, carrying and exchanging in a place value grid. 16 questions, full answers included.

Worksheet (half page, 8 questions): additions set out in hundreds, tens and ones grids with a row for the carried digits, the second one already written in the columns. Two subtractions follow in the same grids, then the support fades to a worded problem and a missing-number subtraction with no grid.

Further practice (half page, 8 questions): graded by difficulty, including setting out calculations without a grid, subtracting across a zero, adding three amounts, a four-digit distance, a two-step money problem, finding missing digits in a column addition, working backwards from a subtraction, and using an addition to check someone else’s answer.

Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.

Suitable for Key Stage 3 support and for GCSE Foundation (AQA N2) classes revisiting written methods.
