This is a file that comprises of 29 RIC and ERIC examples. ERICs are a way of getting children to answer short, sharp comprehension type questions. These examples are all based on songs and/or movie trailers.
‘E’ stands for explain so these questions ask the children what a word in the song or movie trailer means or situation they are in.
‘R’ stands for retrieval where the children answer a question where the answer directly appears in the lyrics or the trailer.
‘I’ is for interpret where there may be something in the song or movie trailer that they have to interpret as meaning something else.
‘C’ is for choice, children have a question where they can choose the answer and very often because it’s their choice there isn’t a right or wrong answer because it’s their opinion.

These ERICs have all been designed by myself. I have been teaching Year 4 for the past 3 years and have also shared these examples with both year 3 and past year 6 classes, so I would suggest that these are suitable across Key Stage 2.
