This is a whopping 95 page word doc. containing all 30 of my grammar games. This represents a fair few evenings and weekends (I know - get a life!). All of these games have been tested in class and adjusted if needed - they have a real impact on learning.
For each grammar skill there is:
a child friendly explanation of the grammar concept; printable rules and resources for a lively dice game; suggestions to challenge or support learners; suggestions for application of the skill in written work.
For some grammar games there is also a lesson plan and a presentation.
Here are some of the skills covered:
commands, questions and statements/ simple and compound sentences/ adverbs/ proper nouns/ classifying nouns/ contractions/ pronouns/ prepositions/prepositional phrases/ apostrophes/ adjectives/ sentence variety/ parentheses/semi-colons/ discussion/ persuasion/ complex sentences / causal connectives/ fronted adverbials/ speech/ relative clauses/ modal verbs
Revision tool which regenerates new questions and self marks! For use on pupil shared areas, all questions modeled on past SATs.
Great alternative to use alongside practice papers, all answers will turn green when correct giving immediate feedback, hence also saves on printing/photocopying and marking.
This can also be put on as many machines as you like, once downloaded put on your school network for pupils to work on-screen (no complex installation just copy to the shared area) and generate a new set of questions with one click! (Just click 'calculate now' and a new set will be generated each time.) This will also be good practice for the use of on-screen tests.
Differentiated! - There is a support page, middle ability page and an extension page. On the last page are corresponding target lists which can be used for self assessment, tracking or to focus intervention.
Great for revising multiple topics whilst improving fluency and mental maths skills, and also includes a times tables booster!
(NB: Requires Microsoft Excel- Please read the instructions!!- check in settings that automatic calculations are switched off- just click formulas- calculation options- tick manual) (read only version to prevent pupils from saving any changes, just select yes when opening)
*** please message me via TES community if you have any questions regarding technical settings***
Engaging, fun and challenging complete SPaG lesson with differentiated learning objectives that teaches how to punctuate direct speech with inverted commas. Also extends to adding speech punctuation and replacing said. Children then work through 4 activities designed to develop their understanding using different skills. They identify, create and explain, with the more able going on to a challenging extension activity. There is also a fun activity in there too that your class will love. Self/peer-assessment plenary is also included to really help cement the learning in their minds and potentially make marking easier for you too. Aimed at Year 3 from the 2014 curriculum guidance but could be taught to Y2 and Y4 as well or any class that needs a reminder! Teachers' notes and answers included along with starter activity, teaching input (including video link) and plenary all on the PowerPoint. All images either sourced from openclipart.com or owned by tftf.
The task is to design a brand new zoo thinking about
different animals needing different amounts of space, the children have to calculate costs and profit. They are not given a budget but the more species they have the more money they earn.
I have included a fact sheet: containing 7 pages that include the species of animals the space they need and some tables to record their calculations, an editable Smart Notebook resource to start the project and a squared paper sheet (best printed on A3) to try and calculate the perimeter - if they share the perimeters it reduces the cost of the fencing.
This took my class 4 maths lessons with a 5th sharing their designs and budget. They loved it - probably because we approached it as a design competition.
This complete 6 lesson unit comes with an editable medium term plan plus 6 separate individually created lesson packs, each one with its own PowerPoint presentation. Everything you need for a half term's worth of art is here that matches perfectly with a local area study or a nature/woodland/habitat topic. Children will build sculptures, take photographs, paint, use sketchbooks, draw with a variety of mediums and stimuli and use a wide range of materials that are commonly found in schools or easily accessible. There is also a lesson where children get to experiment and create completely original pieces of art from their imagination. Every lesson has cross-curricula elements including: reading comprehension, writing and DT, plus they all come with a reflective self-evaluation sheet, everything is designed to perfectly compliment the new 2014 curriculum and the lessons will work with any age group but are designed for KS2.
If you’ve already used the 2 free Salut Sophie Units 1 and 7, you’ll know how good these packages are. Previously sold privately to over 50 teachers worldwide, the whole scheme of 12 units is now available here directly from TES.
Unit 2 is a comprehensive package to teach the French unit 'My country' (12 lesson plans, pupil workbook, all flashcards and other materials). When purchased, you may download, alter, print and use as many copies as you need year after year to suit your requirements.
Unit 2 topics include 'Where I live', 'Languages I speak' and 'The weather'
An extremely useful resource that has almost unlimited application.
I've taken the GCSE Maths specifications for 2015 and converted them into MS Word tables, landscape and portrait, mostly fitting on to one side for each area - number, algebra, etc.
They can be used for planning lessons, schemes of work, cutting and pasting into lesson aims and objectives, or for recording pupil/learner achievement on each objective.
In Word they are very adaptable, and columns can be added as required, for dates etc.
