Bubble Writing - Handwriting Scaffold LKS2

(37)
Bubble writing - cursive handwriting scaffold Like many primary school teachers I have tried a variety of handwriting schemes with varying degrees of success. Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. This simple scaffold provides a guide to consistently form cursive letters and ensure each letter is uniform in both height and width. Children are able to leave equal spaces between words and see clearly whether or not there is enough space at the end of each line for the next word they intend to write. There has been a huge impact within my class in a very short space of time and I hope you will see similar benefits within your own setting. Included is a PowerPoint presentation including words from the Year 3/4 spelling list that can be printed as a handwriting pack for children to work through. Blank slides enable you to add words to suit your needs and finally 2 different sized PDF scaffolds that children can use to write on (If photocopied the bubbles will disappear to leave the writing that has been completed.)

THE Ultimate British Science Week 2026 Quiz- Curiosity: What's Your Question?

(2)
5 rounds with 30+ quiz questions combined! Great for those end of term filler lessons and to have a bit of fun with the pupils! Let’s Celebrate British Science Week 2026! To be honest, this resource has taken many more hours than I would have liked as it has taken a lot of brain power and creativity to come up with interesting rounds! ‘Curiosity’ has been another challenging one! I’ve aimed this for Year 10 but could be used from Year 7-13. I’ve designed this year’s quiz around the theme of Curiosity, the questions that spark discovery, the observations that change the world, and the myths that need challenging. Rounds include: Curious Questions: Big, thought-provoking scientific questions from “Why is the sky blue?” to “What animal is famously killed by curiosity?” Each question has four possible answers. Choose wisely. Mystery Objects: A selection of unusual scientific instruments and technology will be shown. Your task is not simply to name them, but to work out: What are they used for? Curiosity is about understanding purpose, not just labels. Accidental Discoveries: Some of the greatest scientific breakthroughs happened by accident, but only because someone was curious enough to ask, “Why did that happen?” Each question includes four possible answers. Curiosity vs Myth: Not everything we “know” is true. In this round, you’ll decide whether common scientific claims are fact or fiction. Challenge assumptions. Question everything. Logic Puzzles: Science isn’t just facts, it’s thinking. This round tests your reasoning skills with riddles, patterns, deduction puzzles and “liar” challenges. Currently in PowerPoint. Should transfer to Google Slides with relative ease. I’ve put a PDF of the team sheet for easy printing. This resource includes: • PowerPoint with questions and answers • Team answer sheet Any issues or errors please let me know and I’ll rectify ASAP. Images have been selected from searching free images on Google or my own designs.
