Make phonics practice fun and engaging with these “Crack the code” worksheets!

This resource encourages children to use their phonics knowledge to decode a sequence of pictures and write the corresponding words to reveal a secret code. Once they have cracked the code, they then draw a picture of the revealed word, reinforcing understanding and vocabulary in a fun, creative way. It is ideal for developing decoding, segmenting, blending, early spelling skills and comprehension in an interactive activity.

Children simply identify each picture, write the matching word, then use the correct letters to crack the hidden code. Once they’ve revealed the mystery word, they draw a picture to match it.
