I have been an English teacher since 2008 and I continue to enjoy what I do. Approaching lessons and the curriculum with a creative eye has kept my interest in what 'must' be taught and my resources reflect this. Active, engaged students are what I am aiming for. (Positive mindset and all that!) I hope you can find something useful within this 'shop' - our job is hard enough without having to create everything from scratch! Kate

A lesson designed to assess students' ability in recognising and using figurative language. This uses the map from memory technique to recognise the features in groups and a writing frame for the less able when it comes to the independent writing task.

I used a clip from Harry Potter (transformation of Remus Lupin) to demonstrate the show don't tell technique of describing.
