Culture cards

After making some cards on inspirational people who are left out of the history books I thought I needed more diversity within my classroom. There isn’t much education on different cultures in the curriculum and I am going to add these to my book corner so the children can read about them. I created cards similar to the other ones but this time on the different cultures around the world and the information inside them is about that culture with a little bit of history about it, too. I am aware there is many more cultures/religions/countries that have their own beliefs etc and I think that this could be the start of an activity where the children then have to go and research and create their own fact files on a culture/religion/country of their own choice. They could even decided to do one on their own culture or language if they would like to. It gives them a chance to learn more about other cultures and places, teach other children in the class about their own and helps them learn the skill of researching and making fact files of their own!
