Full lesson PowerPoint (with suggested practical activities) sufficient to teach a broad range of abilities about current and voltage in electrical circuits. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.

In theory, this should be one lesson re-capping Year 7 knowledge on how voltage and current are measured and how they behave differently in series and parallel circuits. In practice, many students are not great at building or understanding circuits as they have had limited practice at it, so they struggle in Years 10 and 11. The aim of this double lesson (plus my follow-up lesson on resistance) is therefore to recap and extend Year 7 Electricity, while giving extended practice at building circuits and focusing on accurately connecting ammeters and voltmeters. Hopefully this will leave students better prepared for GCSE Physics.
