The lessons focus on the key skills of reading and allow the children to explore the high quality text, whilst learning new reading skills.
Learning objectives include how to make predictions using the book cover for evidence, to match the given definitions to unfamiliar words in the text, to make inferences about a character, to identify descriptive phrases which make Miss Root seem ‘bad’,and to make an informed prediction about what will happen next.
The lessons have been developed for lower key stage 2 children, but could be easily adapted using the differentiated resources for any age group.
