Building up to describing a house/room - show pictures on powerpoint and students fill in the gaps in the descriptions on the paper. Discuss them in groups/with partner - have they all written the same thing? Are some better than others? Why? Once they have done this, show the other pictures and get the students to write a description for themselves, based on the first few they did. This really helps them to think about word order, choice of vocab & how to improve their writing. I did this as a lead up to a writing assessment on this topic - other resources uploaded separately.
