This task develops students' ability to form simple descriptive sentences and to begin to ask a variety of questions. This resource forms part of a project looking at ways to encourage learners to interact more in the target language, developing the skills of both planned and unplanned (or spontaneous) talk.
It was designed with Y7 in mind, but with very little work could be differentiated for Y8, Y9 or even KS4 classes – this is because it’s the teacher questioning that sets the level of challenge.
Instructions for teachers are on the notes page of the PowerPoint slide.

Inspired by a visit to Judgemeadow school in Leicester, we've been re-vamping our classroom display resources. These are the French ones. The &'good features&'; stars are to go with a display of annotated student work.
A two page worksheet on irregular verbs in the preterite. Sections include: conjugation practice, changing the verb from the present to the preterit, and personal questions. The personal questions can also be done as an oral activity in class. The worksheet can also be used as a quiz or test.
These Spanish readers are fun end of the year and school activities! Each of the 2 booklets contains 16 pages: the title page with 15 additional pages. One contains text and images, and the other contains text only so students can sketch and create their own versions of the booklets. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page.
Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet containing text and images. Words included are sombrilla, barco velero, cubo y pala, concha, playa, helado, pelota de playa, gafas del sol, toalla, bronceador, pez, castillo de arena, sol, olas, and cangrejo. They then sketch and create their own versions with the text only template.
The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary words. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text.
