Different Is Brilliant! KS2 PSHE Lesson

A ready-to-teach KS2 PSHE lesson exploring respectful disagreement, different perspectives and positive relationships through creative learning.
Different Is Brilliant! helps pupils understand that two people can experience or interpret the same thing differently — and that disagreement does not have to become disrespect.
Designed for Key Stage 2 pupils aged 7–11, this 50–60 minute lesson combines a simple creative challenge with structured discussion, fictional scenarios and assessment.
Pupils begin with the same visual prompt but develop their own responses. This provides a practical starting point for discussing why people may have different perspectives and how we can communicate disagreement respectfully.
Learning objective:
To understand that people can have different perspectives and can express disagreement respectfully.

No previous art experience is required. Artistic ability and the aesthetic quality of pupils’ work are not assessed. The creative activity is used to support PSHE learning, discussion and skills rehearsal.
The lesson requires minimal preparation and can be used as part of a school’s existing PSHE Relationships provision, including learning around respect, communication, difference and positive relationships.
