This worksheet is designed to introduce the process of diffusion and osmosis in animal and plant cells to Year 7 students. The exercise is best used to follow a teacher presentation and discussion of the key information (video links provided).

Students work to complete a gap-fill introductory paragraph, work together to find common examples of diffusion, a matching exercise for the key osmosis facts and then using a table to differentiate between hypotonic, isotonic and hypertonic states.

I have used this worksheet with Year 7 EAL students as an introduction (40 minutes to complete) and with Year 8 students for a recap / or a diagnostic at the start of a new unit (20 minutes).
