A booklet made for pupils to independently improve their creative writing and grammatical knowledge, using an extract from 'The Walled City’ by Ryan Graudin as a springboard. This was originally designed as a home learning intervention pack so would be perfect for remote / distance learning.
Each activity steps pupils through constructing their own piece of creative writing, including:
- Comprehension
- Investigating meanings of key vocabulary
- Correct sentence construction
- Selecting precise and judiciously chosen vocabulary
- How to plan a piece of writing
- Creating effective imagery
- Writing an effective piece of fiction
This was designed for KS3 pupils but is easily adapted for KS4.

Using this today with a student with English as an additional language. This is a great, flexible pack as tasks are very clear to help me break things down for her, it covers a range of skills and is both academically challenging and sufficiently varied (thank you!) plus the layout is gorgeous . Brilliant resource.
