Complete “Ready to go” lesson with no adapting necessary!
New for AAQ Pearson Applied Science BTEC from Sept 2025 Specification

This lesson covers:
•What are circuit symbols and why do we use them with match up task where students match the component name to the symbol and the function of this component. This task assumes students have some previous knowledge on circuit symbols
•The difference between a battery and a cell
•How to draw circuit diagram with a follow up drawing task.
•2 practicals:

  • Practical 1 investigates current and potential difference readings at different points on a series circuit to highlight the importance of placing an ammeter in series and a voltmeter in parallel
  • Practical 2 investigates how current and potential difference changes as you increase the number of components (filament lamps).
  • Students write up their conclusions from these investigations
•What is current, potential difference, energy and power using the analogy of lorry logistics transporting products to a shop to help students understand the difference. Followed by key information and application task
•How high p.d. and low current and vice versa can lead to the same energy transferred leading to the introduction of E=VIt. Followed by lots of practice of using this equations

NO PRINTING REQUIREMENTS
