This lesson covers:
•Introduction into how we use EM waves in communication and how their properties change as you go across the EM spectrum linking to optical fibres from previous lessons
•Content covered on some of the new terms and features of the EM waves in communication: overlapping, interference, line of sight
•Students are tasked with determining the appropriate EM waves for communication within and out of a beach rescue centre based on a set of scenarios. They are given a worksheet to fill in from an information hunt on the different types of signals followed by a set of questions to apply knowledge further/ to focus on the advantages and disadvantages of each type of signal
•6-mark exam questions with mark schemes as this used to come up regularly on the old 2016 specification
PRINTING REQUIREMENTS - Information hunt sheets (2 sheets in total) that can be reused + 1 worksheet per student.
