Super Mendeleev Battles the Elements! – Interactive Periodic Table Game

Looking for a fun, engaging way to help students learn element names and symbols?

Super Mendeleev Battles the Elements! is a free, browser-based chemistry game in which students control Mendeleev and blast the spaceship carrying the correct chemical symbol or element name.

The game includes four difficulty levels:

Lab Assistant – the first 20 elements

MYP Student – 40 familiar elements

Chemistry Teacher – elements 1–86

Mendeleev – all 118 elements

As students progress, the spaceships become faster and the game introduces red herrings, including elements with similar symbols or the same starting letter. For example, students may need to distinguish between Cu, C and Co, or work out that tungsten is W while avoiding symbols such as Th and Ta.

The game is suitable for:

KS3 and lower-secondary chemistry

Middle school and MYP science

Periodic table revision

Learning element names and symbols

Lesson starters and plenaries

Homework and independent revision

Students can play on a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Mobile devices should be used in landscape mode. There is no download, account or registration required.

The game also includes sound effects, background music, humorous game-over messages and a worldwide high-score table for each difficulty level.
