Lesson Title: Employability – Skills for Future Success (Careers / PSHE)
This practical and reflective KS4 lesson introduces students to key employability skills and how they can start developing them while still in school. Through self-assessment tasks, SMART target setting, and motivational scenarios, students explore what employers are looking for and how to become work-ready.
Lesson Aims:
Understand what employability skills are and why they matter
Identify personal strengths and areas for improvement
Reflect on what motivates individuals in the workplace (e.g. money, helping others, problem-solving)
Explore how to improve employability through school, volunteering, and extracurricular activities
Set SMART targets to build skills like teamwork, organisation, and communication
Learn how to prepare for the world of work (e.g. CV writing, interview prep, punctuality)
Design a visual poster to summarise employability strategies
