Highly collaborative stand-alone lesson which incorporates drama and group questioning activities to aid understanding of what to include in unseen poetry responses.

Lesson includes plan which does not need to be followed and three distinct activities-

Drama - group task where each student reads lines from the tragic or ironic sections from the poem with 2/3 students miming directed actions from the lines provided.

Group Question activity- students placed in four groups with four topic sections, Each group decides upon 3 questions to ask rest of class and entire class completes the answer sheet,

Written Analysis - Consolodation task which asks for a written and self-assessed review of the understanding of the poem.

A bit of a break from the ‘read-analyse-respond’ models of usual poetry analysis.
