English Non-Fiction KS2 / KS3 'The First Victorian Christmas Card' Comprehension and writing tasks

This resource has been created for Victorian England Christmas themed lessons. This lesson gives students a simplified and broken-down way of accessing a non fiction text.
There are opportunities for students to share their prior knowledge and incorporate this into their understanding of the text.

Included is a writing task and a creative activity which allows students to imagine they are living in the Victorian world.
This lesson is suitable for KS2 / KS3 students, but it can easily be adapted to suit KS4 students, particularly those who are less able.

As the focus is on Victorian themes, this lesson can be used as pre-reading material for Victorian texts such as ‘A Christmas Carol’.

This resource could also be used as part of a History scheme, looking at Traditions in Victorian Britain
