Teach your year 2 children how to create a book review as a part of an author study. This unit contains complete planning, resources and print-out copies of a teacher-made unit of work. This unit can be adapted for any author very easily.

Lesson 1 - What is an author? Questions about who it is.
Lesson 2- Statement sentences.
Lesson 3- Writing questions about an author, followed by the answer
1-3 Focus on Author study.
Lesson 4- Features of a book review. Children unpick key features.
Lesson 5 - Shared write. Children write 3 questions/answers about a book they have read. Lesson is guided by teacher.
Lesson 6 - Drafting. Children do an independent or guided draft of a book review.
Lesson 7 & 8 - Editing and Publishing.
