ESL/EFL Speaking Activities - 5 Warm Up Games

This bundle contains 5 creative ESL/EFL warm-up activities that do much more than just start the lesson. They are carefully designed to:

• improve speaking fluency in a playful and stress-free way
• develop creative and critical thinking in a fun context
• create a positive classroom atmosphere right from the first minutes.
  These warm-ups can be used with students of any level and work equally well in online lessons or classroom teaching.

What’s included:

1. Pack Your Bag (15 slides)
   Students choose items to pack for different situations (trip, adventure, survival). They practice vocabulary, explain their choices, and build mini-discussions.
2. Would You Rather…? (21 slides)
   A classic dilemma game where students choose between two funny or challenging options. They give reasons for their choices, compare ideas, and spark debates.
3. Therapy Session (21 slides)
   Famous characters share their “problems” (e.g. Shrek, superheroes). Students act as therapists and give advice. This activity combines creativity, empathy, and speaking practice.
4. Call As Many As You Can in One Minute (15 cards)
   A fast-paced vocabulary race. Students brainstorm and name as many words as possible in one minute (e.g. animals, food, countries). Builds quick recall, vocabulary range, and speaking speed.
5. Random Word Chain
   Students get random words on the board, pick three of them, and invent a short story. This activity develops creative thinking and imagination while keeping the focus on fun and speaking fluency.
