I used this lesson in Year 3 but it can be adaptable for Key Stage 2 or even Key Stage 1. Children work in table groups to estimate the mass and length/height of everyday items. The estimates are recorded in a table and the actual measurement is then added. Children compare their estimates to see if they are getting more accurate. Higher ability children can work out the difference between their actual and estimate measurements. You may want to focus on either mass or length/height if you don't have time for both.
