A task I used with my top set year 9s at the beginning of the expanding brackets topic to review what they already knew and then to see how much they could adapt to unfamiliar questions which I could then use as starting points for my teaching. Worked really well and we had some good discussions about some of the questions.
Section 3 involves some “proof” as a nice introduction to this topic.
