I’ve really enjoyed working through this sheet with my students, especially my Year 8’s, as they really enjoy hearing that they’ve completed a piece of work that includes some A-level knowledge!

Using the cake analogy means that students understand what’s going on, even if they don’t know the A-level information needed to understand why. Two worksheets are included, one where I had spent the whole lesson on the work linked to cancer (students then completed a lesson from the Cancer Research site), and a second where I instead linked the mutations to adaptations.
