Practise counting the faces, edges and vertices of 3D shapes. Hidden edges at the back are drawn dashed so every edge can be counted. 16 questions on one A4 page, full answers included.
Worksheet (questions 1 to 8): a cuboid, triangular prism, cube, square based pyramid, pentagonal prism and triangular based pyramid, each drawn with boxes for faces, edges and vertices, then working out the end faces of a prism from its number of faces, and deciding whether a shape is a prism or a pyramid from its counts and naming it.
Further practice (questions 9 to 16): graded by difficulty. A heptagonal prism, a net that folds into a solid, stars on every vertex of a hexagonal tea tin, comparing the edges of a hexagonal based pyramid and a pentagonal prism, the edges of a prism from its vertices, ribbon along every edge of a gift box, a tower made from a pyramid on a cube, and whether a prism can have 10 edges.
Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.
Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA G12) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on 3D shapes.
