This is a resource pack that I have developed for my Step-Up Sports students. They are football mad and not many of the lads are particularly keen on Maths. Hence, I’ve got them all to create a Fantasy Football team and join the league I’ve set up for the class. Little do they know they are going to be covertly working on their number and data skills throughout the year. I’ve included a pdf and word version (editable) of all the materials here. Feel free to tweak all of them to fit the needs of your own students. I have aimed this Maths resource primarily at Entry Level 3 (upper KS2- lower KS3) but it does touch on Level 1, with the mean/range and decimal questions. The students will have to do quite a bit of problem-solving online using the Premier League Fantasy Football website or app. As the teacher you will have to be comfortable with delivering this (being a Footie fan helps) and familiarise yourself with the Fantasy Football League website somewhat in order to guide the students in terms of how to locate the stats they need for their team. The Maths questions worksheet will only really come into its own once you’ve got a league set up and each student has his/her own team. Also included - A team review sheet to help the students quickly access an overview of their player’s performances, and a Player-by-Player stats sheet to assist with answering the questions on the Maths worksheet. Students can also be encouraged to produce a table over the course of the season to track their team’s results - the tracker begins at Game Week 5, as the academic year starts around this time (first four game weeks take place in August when we’re still enjoying our hols) . The table resource, once again, embeds the data aspect of Entry Level Maths. Good luck with implementing these materials. I hope you manage to have some fun with the activities.

This looks brilliant although I haven't used it yet for my current group of disaffected boys.
